The BMW Berlin-Marathon 2026 will celebrate its 52nd edition. This prestigious race remains one of the fastest in the world, attracting elite runners and thousands of participants from over 120 nations.
With its flat course and enthusiastic crowds, Berlin consistently produces world-record performances, including Eliud Kipchoge’s legendary runs in 2018 and 2022 and Tigst Assefa’s incredible women’s world record of 2:11:53 in 2023.
Runners can look forward to a vibrant atmosphere with music, cheering crowds, and scenic views of Berlin’s iconic landmarks along the course.

Berlin is the capital of Germany and its cultural center.
It’s known for its art scene, nightlife and modern architecture, such as Mies van der Rohe’s landmark Neue Nationalgalerie. The historic icons include its Holocaust Memorial and the Berlin Wall’s graffitied still remains with the 18th-century Brandenburg Gate becoming an iconic symbol of reunification.
Due to its location in the European Plain, Berlin is influenced by a temperate seasonal climate with an average high temperature of 18 degrees in the September months.

At 6pm Berlin Marathon has a "Hall Of Fame" program at the Brandenburg Gate.. It is quite a festive atmosphere and highly recommended to visit. Highlights are:
- Life size figures of the past winners
- Presentation of the Abbot World Marathon Majors Six Star Finisher medals
- Gate of Fame with all the names of the Berlin Marathon 2025 participants
- Elite male and female runners from the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON
- Photo point with the car of the BMW Berlin Marathon
Saturday 26 September 2026 – Generali 5km Run / Race Expo
The GENERALI Breakfast Run will take place as part of the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON.
Experience the last 5km of the original BMW Berlin-Marathon race.
The afternoon, we visit the Berlin Marathon expo – MARATHON EXPO.
Sunday 27 September 2026 – 52nd BMW BERLIN-MARATHON
After an early breakfast we make our way to the race village.
The elite runners start at 9:30am. Your official start time and start chute should be listed in your Start Pass.
The official Berlin Marathon After Party will take place the evening (more details closer to time).
Monday 28 September 2026 – Departure Home
Abschied Berlin - Good Bye Berlin
Departure back home or to your next destination.
